EcoDog City

HISTORY

Mario, retired and inventor, asks the lab boys to make some 3D prints shortly before opening, showing some urgency but without revealing the details of his patented prototype. After some initial difficulties are delivered the components requested to Mario who satisfied returns to laboratory not long after with its assembled and fully functional object: Ecodog, the “puppet” pickup palette for your dog. The object invented by Mario the inventor was designed to help the elderly to fulfill the most ingenious task of treating their dogs: without bowing, in a clean manner and having a pallet that also becomes a walking stick. Faced with the real object that immediately reveals the limits and potentials of the invention, Mario and Fablab Pesaro begin their fruitful collaboration that transforms their Ecodog into Ecodog City. The object that solves a problem turns into a more articulated project, useful not only to the elderly but to a whole city.

THE PROJECT

Ecodog City is an appealing design urban design designed by Fablab Pesaro in two versions: a compact and little invasive fit to be installed in historic centers and urbanized areas while the other more complex with photovoltaic panels and lighting systems suitable for positioning in parks, “sgambatoi” and beaches for dogs. The “puppet” pallet becomes an integral part of this furniture and is made available to all dog owners who can use it freely. In each island there is a basket for composting organic waste. The most original part of the Ecodog City furniture is the pallet restraint box that incorporates a washing / sanitation system and a lock / unlock system. The last operation is automated by an RFID reader who reads and verifies the information contained in the animal chip when an owner approaches his dog to the column. Such interaction unlocks the opening of the box to provide the user with the palette and stores the user’s information for the service usage time. The project aims to install Ecodog City at various locations in the city, which can also be found on online maps. Ecodog City is one of the first innovative and intelligent urban furniture projects to help keep the city clean and stimulate a small civilization action by the dog owners.

To date, Ecodog City is a project that aims to transform itself into a fully functioning prototype that can be sold to urban administrations sensitive to these issues. The administration of the city of Pesaro, where the project was born, has already demonstrated an opening to this idea by becoming available to experience the first prototype in one of the many dog areas in the city. The collaboration between Mario and Fablab Pesaro thanks to COSMOB’s experience has also transformed the Ecodog palette into the Ecodog City project, creating the “innovation process that generates aesthetically interesting objects” that should be good design practices.
