Nigerian Market: a new list of furniture products allowed to be imported

Nigeria

New sales opportunities for Italian exporters in Nigeria.

The Nigerian Customs Authority has recently revised the list of products forbidden to be imported, by deleting a number of  furniture  products that can now be placed on the local market, opening up new sales opportunities for Italian companies.

Check out here the list of bathroom, bedroom, kitchen, outdoor and office furnishing products now admitted in the country.

In order to be able to sell and export these products in Nigeria, they must comply with certain quality and compliance requirements as established by the Nigerian Standard Organization (NSO) within the Standards Organization ofNigeria Conformity Assessment Program (SONCAP), a Product Conformity Checking Program implemented to prevent the entry of poor products that could harm the health of citizens and develop unfair competition practices.

Exporters are therefore required to obtain through an accredited Body the Product Certificate and the SONCAP Certificate to be included in the online portal (Nigeria Single Window www.trade.gov.ng) to allow the Central Bank ofNigeria to issue the M Form,  required by the Customs to compile the Pre-Arrival Assessment Report (PAAR) and allow the customs clearance of goods at destination.

Cosmob, as a Third Party Lab for the compliance tests required by the country, in collaboration with Intertek experts, an internationally accredited SON entity for the issue of the Product Certificate and the SONCAP Certificate, are available to companies in the furniture, bathroom and accessories industries, for information and clarification on the requirements for obtaining certificates to export to Nigeria and other Countries.
