Smiling

SMart In home LIviNG

The SMILING project consists of a “laboratory” for transferring from the field of research to the business world, advanced automation and sensor technology for application in the field of domotics; they will allow them to develop innovative products and deliver new services to improve the quality of living and energy efficiency of homes.

The objective of the project is to enhance the results of public research, aiming to increase synergies and develop a collaborative system among the various actors involved (enterprises, associations, universities and technology transfer centers) so as to stimulate the realization of new products in the home automation field, products that can be valued in existing business (entrepreneurship) or in new business (spin-off) so as to favor the diversification of the production system and improve the competitiveness of the local economic system.

The “laboratory” consists of three operating units distributed in central and southern Italy. The fulcrum will be in the Marche region (Fabriano area), while other locations will be located in Abruzzo (L’Aquila) and Campania (Naples).

Although focused on these three areas, the technology transfer actions promoted will involve all businesses in the three regions. The two partner universities of the project – Politecnica delle Marche (leader) and L’Aquila – make available their expertise and research results in order to qualify for the products offered by the numerous small and medium-sized enterprises of the territories currently operating in field of mechanics, electronics, mechatronics, computer science, mobile and systems for the production and management of energy.

The “distributed lab” will have three main functions: to demonstrate the innovative technologies proposed by the research centers; to stimulate and support, both at the technical and organizational level, the creation of new high tech companies; providing services to newcomers to carry out experimental evidence and constitute a meeting point and technology comparison. The activity will be carried out with the involvement of both the Meccano and Cosmob Technology Transfer Centers and the Trade Associations such as Confindustria Marche, Confindustria Eagle, Confindustria Ancona, Provincial CNA Ancona, Confapi Ancona, National Coop League, always more sensitive to the innovative processes of their associates.
